Biography

In practice for almost 30 years, first as a solicitor and thereafter as an advocate, Leo has broad experience of all kinds of Civil Litigation. 

He has appeared predominantly in the Inner and Outer Houses of the Court of Session, with a particular interest in personal injury, professional/ clinical negligence and private / commercial contractual disputes. He was junior counsel in the long-running Piper Alpha litigation that concerned the interpretation of contractual indemnities in which multi-million pound recoveries were ultimately made. Since taking silk in 2008, Leo has been instructed as lead counsel in a wide range of complex, high value cases. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and is happy to take instructions in Arbitrations.  Leo is commended by agents and clients for his calm and straightforward approach to litigation.
