The Faculty has admitted Gavin Sellar as a non-practising member.

Mr Sellar is a graduate of Cambridge University, City University, London, and Edinburgh University, and was called to the Bar of England & Wales in 2011.

He currently works for the Scottish Government as Parliamentary Counsel, and in admitting him to the public office of advocate, Lord Boyd of Duncansby said: “All of us are aware of the importance of Parliamentary Counsel to the legislative process. As a former law officer, I know the extent of training you need to undergo and the skill and expertise that the role requires.”

He added: “I am sure that you will find membership of the Faculty of Advocates a welcoming and supportive environment in which to further develop and hone these skills.”

Mr Sellar is the son of David Sellar, former Lord Lyon King of Arms.
