QC outlines Faculty’s views on planned redress scheme

07 Oct

EVIDENCE has been given to MSPs by Una Doherty, QC, about the Faculty’s views on the Redress for Survivors (Historical Child Abuse in Care) (Scotland) Bill.

The Scottish Parliament’s Education and Skills Committee is examining the Bill which would make fixed payments of £10,000, £20,000, £40,000 or £80,000, but would also require applicants to abandon civil litigation.

The Faculty’s written submission to the committee is here. The evidence session featuring Ms Doherty, with Kim Leslie, of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL), and Iain Nicol, of the Law Society of Scotland, can be viewed here
