Biography

Usman Tariq specialises in commercial and public law.

He is appointed as a Standing Junior counsel to the UK Government in Scotland. He was named “Advocate of the Year” at the Law Awards of Scotland 2017 and the Legal 500’s “Junior of the Year” at the Scottish Bar at the Legal 500 UK Awards 2019. 

He has represented clients at all levels of the court system including the UK Supreme Court. His practice areas include contractual disputes, intellectual property, insolvency, company law, banking disputes and professional negligence. He is ranked as a leading junior counsel in the current editions of the legal directories The Legal 500, Chambers and Partners, Legal Who's Who (UK Bar) and the World Trademark Review 1000.

He called to the Bar as the Faculty’s Lord Reid scholar 2010/11. He is the founder of the Scottish Ethnic Minorities Lawyers Association (SEMLA).
