Biography

Alan called to the Bar in 2024 after 8 years of experience as a solicitor in private practice.

He has a significant amount of experience in property disputes, having worked in real estate litigation since qualifying. This included matters involving commercial leases, development land, rural properties, energy projects and telecommunications sites. He also has an interest in related planning and environmental matters.

Further, Alan has experience in commercial and financial services litigation, particularly in relation to commercial contract, mortgage enforcement, and consumer credit issues.

As a solicitor, Alan appeared in the Sheriff Courts, the First Tier Tribunal (Housing and Property Chamber) and the Lands Tribunal, as well as in arbitration proceedings. He was regularly involved in Court of Session cases as an instructing solicitor.

Alan has delivered seminars and talks on various property related topics and is also a tutor on the Property Law course at the University of Edinburgh.
