Biography

Amy called to the bar as a Lord Hope Scholar in 2025 with an extensive background in criminal litigation.

Amy has practiced in both private and public sectors. As a criminal defence solicitor, she regularly conducted trials at summary and solemn level appearing in Sheriff Courts throughout Scotland. She regularly instructed Counsel in the High Court of Justiciary in murder and sexual offences cases.

Amy also has experience of family, child and mental health law.

Amy was appointed a Procurator Fiscal Depute in 2019, she quickly became a Senior Depute, gaining substantial litigation experience prosecuting complex and high-profile solemn level cases. Latterly, she was a Principal Procurator Fiscal Depute where she managed a team specialising in sexual, domestic and complex offending.

Amy was the lead tutor of Criminal Litigation on the Diploma in Legal Practice at the University of Strathclyde. She was also a tutor in Advanced Criminal Advocacy.
