David called to the Bar in 2017 as the Lord Reid Scholar 2016-17.

David is described in Chambers and Partners as “one of the best public law counsel at the Scottish Bar”. He has significant experience of public law challenges both against and for public bodies, and has appeared in courts at all levels, including before a full bench of the UK Supreme Court and a full bench of the Court of Justice of the European Union. He is regularly instructed to handle complex and high-profile claims involving questions of constitutional and commercial law as well as litigation in relation to equalities and fundamental rights.

David also has particular experience with taxation and disputes involving trustees, executors, charities and other fiduciaries.  As David is also called to the Bar of England & Wales, he has experience of advising in relation to cross-border or international elements.
