Biography
Hugh called to the bar in 2021, having trained and practiced at litigation firm Clyde & Co.
During his time in private practice, Hugh acted on behalf of high-profile insurers and local authorities. His principal areas of expertise include public and employer liability claims, road traffic accidents, occupational stress, occupational disease and historical childhood abuse litigation. He has considerable experience acting in claims arising from catastrophic injuries.
Hugh appeared regularly in the Sheriff Court as a solicitor, conducting proofs and other contentious hearings.
Whilst devilling, Hugh gained experience in further areas of interest including product liability, professional liability and property damage, as well as health and safety prosecutions, and Fatal Accident and Public Inquiries.
Hugh completed his MA(Hons), LLB and Diploma at the University of Edinburgh, where he won the Senior Mooting Competition and Best Oralist prize for most outstanding performance of a legal argument.
