Biography

John has accumulated wide-ranging expertise during his career at the Bar, and he is regularly instructed in cases in each of his identified areas of interest. It is his proficiency in family law for which he is probably best known, however – particularly as it relates to, and affects, children.

John has a particular specialist interest in forensic interviewing, especially of young children, and in the collaboration of law and psychology.

John has appeared before various bodies exercising decision making functions. He also has experience in the conduct of fatal accident inquiries. In May 2010, he was appointed a part-time Sheriff by the Scottish Ministers.  John sits regularly as a part-time Sheriff.
