Biography
After coming to the Bar Lisa spent three years on the Billy Wright Inquiry into alleged state collusion in the murder of a prisoner in Northern Ireland; more recently, she represented nurses on the Vale of Leven Hospital Inquiry into the outbreak of C.difficile infection there.
Lisa Gillespie has been a full-time advocate depute since February 2014. She has a first class honours degree in law and a Masters with distinction in global crime, justice and security, both from the University of Edinburgh. She was a solicitor in the court department at Brodies before joining the Procurator Fiscal Service. She was Law Clerk to the then Lord Justice Clerk Lord Gill, and worked on the Civil Courts Review and the Review of Expenses and Funding in Civil Litigation in Scotland. Notable defence work has included multimillion pound breaches of European fisheries regulations and Scotland’s first people-trafficking case.
