Biography
Usman Tariq KC has extensive experience of high-value and complex commercial disputes and public law litigation.
His core practice areas include contractual, intellectual property, insolvency and professional negligence disputes. He also specialises in administrative and public law where he has acted for both Scottish and UK governments. He has appeared at all levels of the court system, including the UK Supreme Court.
The breadth of his expertise is recognised in the Chambers & Partners UK Bar Guide in which he is ranked as a leading senior counsel in eight practice areas. He is also ranked in multiple practice areas in the Legal 500.
He is the Chair of JUSTICE Scotland, a member of the Scottish Civil Justice Council and co-founder of the Scottish Ethnic Minority Lawyers Association (SEMLA). He was previously an Advocate Depute, Second Standing Junior Counsel to the UK Government and counsel to the UK Covid-19 Public Inquiry.
