Honorary degrees for Alexander McCall Smith and Laura Dunlop, QC

The University of Stirling is to confer honorary degrees on Faculty members, Alexander McCall Smith and Laura Dunlop, QC.
Both will receive the award of Doctor of the University at next week’s Winter Graduation.
Professor McCall Smith, Emeritus Professor of Medical Law at the University of Edinburgh, is the author of The No 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency series, which has sold more than 20 million copies worldwide.
Ms Dunlop was Scotland’s first female law commissioner, and was responsible for addressing protection of the right to liberty of adults with incapacity. She is the first female Procurator to the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, a post she has held since 2005.
Professor Gerry McCormac, Principal and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Stirling, said: “Both honorary graduands have made outstanding contributions in their fields and are shining examples to our graduating students of what can be achieved.”
