Sentencing guideline judgments brought together online

 

Guideline judgments issued by the High Court have been made available by the Scottish Sentencing Council on its website.

To date, a handful of opinions have been issued by appeal judges which give guidance about the appropriate sentence for similar cases.

Those judgments have been brought together and are published in full, with summaries explaining the main principles applied by the court. Also, the Council has highlighted a selection of other judgments which involve sentencing issues.

Lady Dorrian, Chair of the Scottish Sentencing Council, said: “We are working to bring together information on sentencing practice in Scotland to create a helpful and user-friendly resource.”
