James Wolffe, QC, to give Human Rights Day Lecture

22 Nov

The Lord Advocate and former Dean of Faculty, James Wolffe, QC, is to deliver the JUSTICE Scotland Human Rights Day Lecture 2016.

Mr Wolffe’s talk will place the prosecution of crime in the context of a commitment to fundamental rights.

The event, staged by the Faculty and JUSTICE Scotland, will be chaired by the Hon Lady Scott, with closing remarks by Derek Ogg, QC, Chair of JUSTICE Scotland.

Human Rights Day is observed each year on 10 December, in commemoration of the day on which, in 1948, the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

The Lecture will be held in the Laigh Hall, Parliament House, Edinburgh, from 5pm on Friday, 9 December, and will be followed by a drinks reception.

Entry is free and booking details can be found at  https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/justice-scotland-human-rights-day-lecture-registration-29280646201
