Fundraising walk in memory of Lord (Mike) Jones

24 Apr

A 117-mile walk in memory of Lord (Mike) Jones will raise funds for the hospital unit where he was treated after suffering a haemorrhagic stroke.

His wife, Fiona Jones, a non-practising member of Faculty, is to walk the Fife Coastal Path in stages, from Kincardine to Newburgh, between 27 June and 5 July.

She will be accompanied by her sister, Jane, and the walk will also be in memory of their mother, Alison Craddock, who died from a haemorrhagic stroke, just four months before Lord Jones.

“We will be raising funds for the Intensive Care Unit at the Western General Hospital in Edinburgh, in memory of Mike, and for Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland, in memory of both Alison and Mike,” said Fiona.

“The ICU gave Mike the best possible medical care and were so compassionate and caring to all of our family, at a time of immense distress and upset. The staff are simply amazing. As a family, we want to raise funds for ICU to help them to continue to provide exceptional care to other patients and families who find themselves in such terrible circumstances.

“We would be delighted if anyone would like to join us for any part of the walk and we plan to post daily updates at  https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Fiona-Jones48  and https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Jane-Scott19 so people can check exactly where and when we will be leaving on a particular stage.”
