The Faculty has been shortlisted for an award, in recognition of voluntary work by staff and members.
The Scott + Co Scottish Legal Awards 2017 has selected the Faculty as a finalist in the Community Contribution category.
The winners of this category and other awards will be announced at a dinner on 30 March in the Assembly Rooms, Edinburgh.
Gordon Jackson, QC, Dean of Faculty, said: “The Faculty attaches great importance to its position in Scottish society and I am pleased that so many advocates and members of staff actively engage in charitable and other socially responsible work. And it is wonderful to have that work recognised in this way.”
The shortlisting follows a second highly successful Christmas collection for vulnerable families in Fife, when the Faculty donated cash and presents http://www.advocates.org.uk/news-and-responses/news/2016/dec/thanks-to-all-who-made-a-difference-for-others-at-xmas-and-throughout-the-year
And it comes just before a second Tumbling Lassie Ball in aid of slavery and human trafficking charities. A previous ball and associated seminar raised more than £14,000 for the charities http://www.advocates.org.uk/news-and-responses/news/2016/nov/book-now-for-tumbling-lassie-events
