Two new judges appointed

 

The Treasurer of the Faculty, Alan Summers, QC, is one of two new appointments as Senators of the College of Justice, it has been announced.

Mr Summers and Sheriff Paul Arthurson, QC, have been appointed by Her Majesty the Queen, on the recommendation of the First Minister.

The dates of their installations have yet to be agreed with the Lord President.

Mr Summers was admitted to Faculty in 1994 and took Silk in 2008. He has served as Special Counsel to the UK Government since 2007, and was Chairman of Faculty Services Ltd from 2008 to 2012, when he became Treasurer.

Paul Arthurson called as an advocate in 1991 and was appointed QC in 2005. He became a sheriff in 2005, and has been a temporary judge since 2013.
