Mike Jones Excellence in Advocacy event
29 Oct
A prize for excellence in advocacy in the name of the late Lord “Mike” Jones is to be awarded for the first time next month.
An event at Parliament House, Edinburgh, on Friday, 9 November, will feature a moot involving teams of two from junior members of Faculty and devils, as well as a lecture by a senior US attorney.
The winners of the moot will receive The Mike Jones Excellence in Advocacy Prize, which was announced last year by the family of the late Supreme Courts judge and the Faculty.
Lord Jones had “a passion for advocacy” and was a key figure in establishing the Faculty’s internationally-renowned training programme in the early 1990s.
He died in March 2016 after suffering a haemorrhagic stroke.
The lecture at the event will be given by Tim Finnegan, a Partner at Greenspoon Marder LLP, New York, who has worked extensively in the area of product liability litigation.
Tickets are free and are available for the moot (starting 3pm) and the lecture, or for the lecture (5pm) alone. Full details at https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/mike-jones-excellence-in-advocacy-event-2018-tickets-51288361871
