QC to be Kirk’s Moderator

THE next Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland is to be Lord Wallace of Tankerness, QC.
Jim Wallace studied law at Cambridge and Edinburgh universities and became a member of Faculty in 1979, practising mainly in civil law. He took Silk in 1997.
During a political career, he served as leader of the Scottish Liberal Democrats, Deputy First Minister of Scotland and Minister for Justice.
In 2010, he was appointed as Advocate General for Scotland and remained a Law Officer for five years. He is a life peer, and takes his title from Tankerness, Orkney. He was MP for Orkney and Shetland, and MSP for Orkney.
