Stephen O' Rourke, QC, Keeper of the Library

FOLLOWING an election among four candidates, Faculty members have chosen Stephen O’Rourke, QC, to be the new Keeper of the Library, replacing Mungo Bovey, QC, who stepped down as a Faculty office-bearer after serving in the role for more than 12 years. The Keeper is responsible for the Advocates Library, and chairs the Curators of the Library and the Abbotsford Joint Collections Management Committee.

Stephen O’Rourke, QC, said: “I am delighted to be the new Keeper. The Faculty has one of the finest law libraries in the world, and it is our collegiate home as practitioners in helping to deliver justice for people throughout Scotland. Remote working has changed the way we use the Library, and one of my priorities will be to expand its digital accessibility.”

The Dean of Faculty, Roddy Dunlop, QC, welcomed Stephen to his new position as Keeper and a Faculty office-bearer: “I warmly congratulate Stephen on his election, and particularly welcome the fact that Faculty members had such a strong field of candidates to choose from. I also wish to record Faculty’s thanks to Mungo for being such a distinguished and effective holder of the post over many years.”
