‘Bad’ Santa is back!

15 Nov

IT’S that time of year when Santa Claus finds himself facing the full force of the law.

The case of ‘The Elvish Advocate v Santa Claus’ will see the International Christmas Court being convened in the Laigh Hall at Parliament House to address various allegations of festive wrongdoing.

Crack legal teams, involving senior Faculty members and several of this year’s Devils, have been assembled to prosecute and defend Santa. Special guest on the evening is Sheriff Maryam Labaki, chair of the Tumbling Lassie Committee.

All proceeds from Faculty’s very own pantomime this year will be donated to the Tumbling Lassie Committee, which supports anti-slavery charities International Justice Mission and The Survivors of Human Trafficking in Scotland.

The cast this year includes Dean of Faculty Roddy Dunlop KC as the judge and devil Gillan Simpson as the Clerk of the Court. Devil Ysabeau Middleton is appearing as Twinkle Toes and Gordon Jackson KC as Santa.

Santa will be prosecuted by Susanne Tanner KC, and devils Amy Hunter and Darren Cox, and his defence team will include Tony Graham KC, and devils Aimee Doran and Karen Forbes.

Proceedings will kick off at 6.30pm and will be followed by a drinks reception. It is open to all Faculty staff, advocates, solicitors, their families and friends and anyone else who would like to come along. The event will attract an hour of advocacy CPD for Faculty members.

Tickets are priced at £15 with a reduced rate for devils and trainees of £5 (use discount codes DEVILS or TRAINEES). Tickets can be booked here.
