Faculty venue for Women Who Kill discussion
28 Oct
THE Faculty’s Laigh Hall is the venue for a discussion about how abused women are treated under the law in Scotland.
The issues in Women who kill: does the criminal law give abused women protection or fair treatment will be explored by the judge, Lady Scott, and Professor Sharon Cowan, of Edinburgh University.
Among the topics to be discussed are the reform of the law on diminished responsibility for women who have been abused, and the still-existing common law plea of provocation based on infidelity.
The free event, from 6pm on Thursday, 28 November, is part of a series by the UK Association of Women Judges to celebrate 100 Years of Women in Law.
