New QCs announced

NINE members of Faculty have been appointed Queen’s Counsel, taking to 133 the number of practising Silks at the Bar.
The new QCs are: Kevin McCallum, Ruth Charteris, Paul O’Brien, James Dawson, Barry Smith, Lisa Gillespie, Amber Galbraith, Alasdair Burnet and John MacGregor.
One solicitor-advocate, Christine O’Neill, has also been approved by Her Majesty for “the rank and dignity of Queen’s Counsel”.
The group will be welcomed by Lord Carloway, the Lord President, at a ceremony to open the legal year on 28 September. The announcement is here
The Scottish Bar has 428 practising members, of whom 133 are QCs. The number of female Silks is 32.
